Six Million Women – VE Day 75

We were chuffed to have been asked to write a new song for the official VE Day 75 Celebrations to be part of the Nation’s Toast to the Heroes, representing the fundamental role that the Homefront played in bringing peace. ‘Six Million Women (The Homefront Song)’ was to be played at events across the UK throughout the VE Day 75 weekend. Sadly all the public events were cancelled but some communities did perform and use the song to support their VE Day 75 activities and here are two lovely examples;

We asked fabulous folk singer Edwina Hayes (www.edwinahayes.com) to sing the song and she did a marvellous job.We also asked Rob Cross to play acoustic guitar on it too, and both played an absolute blinder. If you can work out how we recorded the 1940’s style weaving loom percussion track then do let us know.

We’d like to thank Pageantmaster Bruno Peek LVO OBE OPR for inviting us to write the song and we look forward to hearing it till our ears drop off in May.
